a charged coupled device sensor from a digital camera, the CCD features and array of capacitors that when exposed to light become charged, this charge is measureed by shifting the charge across the row of the CCD matrix in a bucket bridage style and measuring it sequentially. digital processing is used to later reproduce a picture.
